CHAPPAQUA ACTS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Our Mission Statement & Goals

CAE’s mission is to be emotionally supportive while delivering honest climate change information and education based on scientific facts and projections, and provide survival skills through training and tools to our community as we enter a Climate Emergency. Rising temperatures, drought, fires and flooding will cause our food system to collapse in California and Midwest, displace whole populations globally while continuing to destroy animal and plant species.

Our goal is for our town, which is fortunately located in the water and land rich Northeast USA, to have a paradigm shift and create an inclusive, equitable, compassionate and connected community growing our own soil, food and energy in a regenerative zero-waste environment ensuring that our children and the generations beyond will have the skills and emotional intelligence to support one another and survive an overpopulated world afflicted with disease, starvation, war and violence.

Not only will this paradigm shift allow us to prepare for the challenging future that lies ahead, the shift to accept the reality of our circumstances and embrace real change in behavior will help contain the irreversible damage greenhouse gas emissions have caused thus far. It is not too late to change the trajectory and the cascade of tipping points that are on the verge of occurring.

If we act now.

To do so we must drastically reduce our greenhouse gas emissions with the following acts: Passing green building legislation; using less energy and water in our homes, businesses and on our lawns; reducing the size of unnatural carbon emitting lawns; consuming less landfill destined manufactured products and packaging; shopping and traveling local not global; living the three R’s of reduce, reuse, recycle; composting our food scraps and making nutrient rich carbon sequestering soil to grow our own food in Climate Victory Gardens, Community Gardens and Pollinator Pathway Gardens.

Everyone is affected regardless of age, income, race, gender or religion, therefore everyone must be involved and act now. It is time for New Castle to Declare Climate Emergency as NYC, United Kingdom and 1,800 local governments in 33 countries across the globe have done. Please join us and let’s get to work as the other municipalities in Westchester County are already doing. Let’s do our part Chappaqua to save the planet that gave us life. Our children’s future depends on it.
